Kodak Black was sentenced to 46 months in prison on federal gun charges .
A federal judge in Miami sentenced the rapper to 46 months in prison in the last few hours on gun charges, the conviction was good for Kodak Black, since it is far less than the maximum 10-year sentence he could have received. The state has asked for 46 to 57 months, while Black's lawyers have asked for 37 to 44 months or less, court records show.
The rapper pleaded guilty to the charges arising from his May arrest, which occurred shortly before his Rolling Loud Miami performance. He was charged with "making a false statement in connection with the acquisition or attempted acquisition of a firearm." The maximum penalty was 10 years behind bars and three years of supervised release, plus a $ 250,000 fine.
The charges were brought against Kodak after he allegedly lied to a gun dealer twice; once on January 25th and once on March 1st. He bought three guns during his first trip to the seller's shop, but his deal was denied when he tried to buy two guns on his second trip. He was required to fill out a form during these two transactions, although he lied in answering the questions, as he was currently on charges in South Carolina for first-degree criminal sexual conduct, which prohibits him from owning a firearm.
