Honorable Mentions:
Jeffree Star's “Prom Night”: As much as I love Jeffree, his official singles have not been my favorite 2012 moments. “Prom Night” is a catchy, radio-friendly track, but unofficial releases such as “Your Heart is My Pinata” and “Happy Birthday” were better in almost every way. Let us hope 2013 brings only good things from the gorgeous Konvict princess.
Havana Brown's “You'll Be Mine”: The Australian DJ had a top 40 hit with the Pitbull-assisted “We Own the Night”, but it was the fun-loving “You'll Be Mine” that kept my attention for more than three minutes. Featured on her sort-of lackluster EP, the track needs to be serviced as an official U.S. single as soon as physically possible.
#20. Ke$ha's "All That Matters (The Beautiful Life)":
The Queen of AutoTune returned with her full length sophomore album this month and hanging around towards the end of the track list was the dancefloor-ready, near-perfect “All That Matters (The Beautiful Life)”, which showcased the trash-tastic singer's vocals in a whole new positive light. The song is one of my favorite creations Ke$ha has released in her short, to be honest, mediocre career. We all expect to get up and move when a track from the artist comes through the speakers at the club, but here she actually comes to life for once and I'm loving it every second of it.The hope-to-be single is one of the few tracks from the artist that I can enjoy after the first listen.
#19. The Veronicas' "Lolita":
Australian pop super duo, The Veronicas, released one of my favorite albums of all time back in 2007. Five years later, they reemerged with the loud and sonically interesting “Lolita”, featuring fun, unique instrumentals. The track represents a different sound for the sisters as they pack a ton of attitude and impressive vocals on the three and a half minute comeback release. The background production will make anyone feel as if they are in a rave, but then the girls' soothing voices will bring people back down once again. My excitement was building up until its official release, five years was a long enough wait, and the girls did not let me down. Cannot wait for the new album.
#18. Carly Rae Jepsen's "Curiosity":
The 26-year-old, Justin Bieber protege, who is molding her career after an innocent teenage, had a number one hit with the slightly annoying, but addictive, “Call Me Maybe” this year. Too bad the best track off her debut album was scrapped after a music video and release date were announced. “Curiosity”, which was originally featured on her debut EP of the same name, was given a dance boost for inclusion on her 2012 album. Both versions are pretty amazing and show the singer acting her own age for once. The song is catchy, age-appropriate and well-written. If released, I feel the song could have garner Jepsen a whole new fan base. The unreleased music video is pretty great also.

#16. Katharine McPhee's "Touch Me" from SMASH:
SMASH was one of my favorite shows this past year, cannot wait for season two. The acting was great, the drama was intriguing, and the music had me wanting more. Lead actress, American Idol season five runner up Katharine McPhee, performed “Touch Me” on one episode and I was moving along with the beat and the suggestive lyrics. McPhee is often thrown to the back of the line in terms of AI alumni, but she proves she can hold her own with the big names, she didn't place second for nothing. The song, written by Ryan Tedder, is laced in pop goodness and the theater references are just the cherry on top. One of my year's favorites moments for a good reason.
